I’m always on a look out for greater insights to apply to business development or marketing. And I find it in the most expected places.
I was researching male versus female energy, and saw a new perspective on how we humans evolved. One source for this observation was Eckhart Tolle’s New World.
His interpretation of the Ego, and the Ego’s desire to perpetuate itself, provides a fascinating explanation of our cultural structures.
The Ego thrives on the linear aspects of male energy, therefore men are more driven by it and prone to over use it. The Ego knows only to advance itself with more ego, and is suspect of, or threatened by, holistic female energy. So unable to deal with it constructively, the male energy has led to various attempts to eradicate or suppress female energy.
Note: male and female energy are not the exclusive domains of the respective male or female sex of the species. There are beings that have their energy and physicality switched.
While fascinating, I’m more interested in how it affects marketing…or better yet, how we should be marketing.
As the worldwide “spiritual” awakening continues (incidentally the economic adjustment and other hardships will increase its rate), the male and female energy comes more into balance. This being demonstrated by the significant number of women owned business that having been starting up, the number of men changing careers and the number of business adopting triple purpose, or conscious business, traits.
While there’s still long way before achieving balance, another thing is changing.
The Ego-based marketing strategies of lack, scarcity, hard-driving deadlines, vapor-ware bonuses are failing. As male and female energy in all of us becomes more balanced, we are more able to see through that lack-based (ego) marketing and are more drawn to companies that develop and nurture long-term relationships with real value.
I have spoken with folks from around the world that are actively against ego-based marketing…opting out, reporting it as Spam and spreading the word against those companies.
It is time for honest talk, real value, and most of all fostering real relationships…e.g. ego-less marketing. It has always been more successful long-term strategy that is now rapidly increasing in effectiveness! We can now all start to breath easy again.
